The Monteverde Mega M3 offers three writing modes in one : twist action mini ballpoint pen on one end capped ink ball on the other. A fountain pen nib front section is also included (along with an additional ink ball tip) to switch your ink ball into a fountain pen with stainless steel nib. Fills via international ink cartridge only.

The pen can be configured as either as ballpoint & fountain pen or as a ballpoint & ink roller.
The ink roller is kind of like a roller ball but it takes a short standard size international fountain pen cartridge instead of a roller ball cartridge. The literature that came with the pen indicates that the ink roller front section will last about 1 kilometer of writing. You get two ink roller front section with in the box along with a fountain pen front section. You can buy replacement ink roller front sections for $10.00 each (kind of pricey).
The fountain pen takes the short standard size international fountain pen cartridge which you can purchase just about anywhere pretty reasonably.
The ballpoint pen refills are "super mini" not "mini" refills. Apparently the only company that manufactures/distributes the "super mini" is Yafa. You get 6 "super mini" refills in the box with the pen. You can buy additional refills but they are $6.00 for 6.
The pen is short and has a good hefty feeling.
Overall, the pen is well made but I guess you should expect for the price!
