I have always been a big proponent of herbal remedies. One of the mainstays in my house is what I like to call the "Big Three". At the first sign of a cold I hound my son and husband to start taking echinacea, Vitamin C and zinc three times a day. It is amazing how well it works to shorten or even prevent a cold. Now here's my ugly little secret. I hate taking echinacea in any sort of capsule form! While I preach and preach to my family that they need to dose up on this stuff, I very often have trouble getting the stuff down and don't always follow my own guidance. The capsules always manage to get stuck down my throat and then I end up tasting this horrible powder! I also find I have to eat something immediately after taking the capsules or I have terrible nausea. I absolutely hate it. So when I found this extract I thought I might as well give it a try. This stuff is wonderful! In fact, just last week I started coming down with a really bad cold that my mom and a neighbor both had at the same time. This cold, which was a respiratory thing, has been going around our little community and I immediately knew when I was coming down with it. I used the Herb Pharm extract three times a day in just enough water to swallow my zinc pill and kept the cold at bay. This was a severe cold that my friend and mom took well over two weeks to get over. I did have symptoms but they were very mild and lasted only four days. I love this stuff so much that I have ordered a 6 pack of the little guys. Finally, I can take my own advice! If you believe in the benefits of echinacea but hate taking those capsules, this is a wonderful product. I absolutely love it.
