My home uses well water and has six bathrooms. All the toilets began to malfunction with the classic symptoms; really loud noise when filling the tank, water was constantly running into the bowl, in some cases the water was spurting out of the tank like a fountain. I bought the assemblies cause they seemed easy enough to install given the heavy chore ahead of me. I ran into a few obstacles:

1. You will need to unscrew the tubing coming from the water shut-off valve to the tank, in order to attach the tubing to the new fill valve. Be warned, if the tubing has a metal coupling nut, and if too much time has gone since you last replaced the kit in the toilet tank, you might run into difficulty when replacing the fill valve. These tend to get rusty with time and may even break when handling them. I recommend you have spare tubing (preferably with a plastic coupling nut) just in case.

2. The kit includes all the parts you need to install it. However, in my case the shank washer meant to keep water from dripping outside the tank didn't work so good by itself, no matter how hard I tighten it. A simple solution was to wrap some Teflon around it, and put it back in place.

3. Feel the bottom of the tank with your hand and make sure you can get a good grip on the coupling nut, some toilets have an inlet in this area making it almost impossible to reach (I had to get professional help to get to this one).

(+) Pros:
- These kits are very silent, you won't wake up at night with the water filling the tank.
- You are able to separate the fill valve from the shank, a bare tube is much easier to install than the entire assembly. After the shank is coupled with the supply line, the fill valve assembly can easily be slided into place by hand.
- Detailed step by step instructions, in both English and Spanish, are included as well as all parts necessary for installation. Plus, a few troubleshooting scenarios and solutions.
- The included flapper claims to consider users with sediment in their water supply.

(-) Cons: I found no negative aspects worth mentioning at this point.

In the end I am very happy with this kit. Considering that I have so many bathrooms. When it comes time to replace this again, I have the option of leaving the shank in place, connected to the water supply and simply replace the fill valve assembly inside the tank when needed, which would probably take me about 30 seconds.
