Product Description
Many elderly and disabled people are concerned about falling whilst carrying out daily tasks around the home. The Lifemax Auto Dial Panic Alarm is designed to alleviate this worry so they can be rest-assured that if they do fall, help will be called if they need it. With one-touch of the remote panic alarm pendant, the base unit will call up to 3 user-programmed telephone numbers (for example: friends, family or a neighbour) and sends a personalised user-recorded 'help me' message to them. When the call is answered, this pre-recorded message is played to the recipient. If the call is not answered - for example if the call is diverted to an answering machine or the recipient is not available to answer the call, the base unit will call the next pre-programmed number. As an added benefit, if the user is in immediate vicinity of the base unit, hands free two-way conversation is enabled. With a range of up to 30 metres, the user can have peace of mind that help will be called if assistance is needed, even if working in the garden or upstairs in the home. There are 2 panic buttons included. The base unit plugs directly into the existing phone socket and comes supplied with a telephone splitter for easy use. There are no monthly subscription fees to pay, so no hidden costs or contracts.Lifemax Auto Dial Panic Alarm With Two Panic Buttons Review
It was very difficult to get any options in the US market to find a personal alert system that didn't charge a monthly fee or auto dialed 911.What we wanted was a system where if my mother was in need of help, we could call neighbors, family, or friends. As some may be aware, once an elderly person is injured, the process is hospital, then nursing home. Once the person enters a nursing home, the process to get them out is time consuming and difficult. We wanted to avoid that (again).
We went with this system because we were able to buy it through Amazon, and if it didn't work, we could return it hassle free. There were a few others, but we were concerned about the legitimacy of their service and customer support.
A few things regarding this unit. This has European plugs and phone jacks. You will have to find an adapter that goes from Europe style plugs to US plugs. You will have to buy a US dual phone jack extension as well.
IMPORTANT
Read the system instructions thoroughly before plugging in the unit. Once you do, you have a limited time to sync the key fobs to the main unit. I made this mistake and we were unable to make that connection. The fix to this is not in the instructions, and can be a hassle. If you do this, here is the fix as stated by lifemax:
PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE .
1) Press SOS button on the main unit in the 'Off" position
2) Switch the product "On"
3) Press the button on the remote, together, with the SOS button on the main unit (at the same time)as soon as the unit is switched on. The main unit will then provide beep sound to confirm that the remote has been programmed
For us, the unit works as advertised but with issues. My mom has trouble hearing so we have a TDD system for the phone. When the panic alarm calls the numbers we have plugged in, the communication is fuzzy. We think this is not a problem with the panic alarm, but interference with the TDD phone. Anyway you look at it, if my mom is in trouble, the unit will make the phone calls, and if no answer, will progress through to the other numbers entered.
Is it the best personal alarm system? I think it's the best I could find without fees and automatically dialing 911.
