When my husband became disabled, the hospital was using these pads under him to protect the mattress. They are super-durable, super absorbent. I think I bought about 30 of them thinking that it would be too many, but it's just enough. He goes through about 8 per day. However, I use two at a time, overlapped about 6". One for his upper body and one for his lower body so I get mid-chest to mid-thigh. The reason for this is to be able to pull him up in bed (two people, one on each side of the bed). The head of his bed can be elevated, so he manages to slip down the bed towards the foot of the bed. The pads end up shimmying up the bed underneath him, so I have to put a third one under his buttocks and upper thigh. I also bought just a few very long, wide ones for extremely heavy patients, I think they're called "bariatric" pad sizes. He's not obese by any means, but the extra length and width is helpful for when he tosses and turns and the pads move around and manage to move out from under him. I should have gotten more of those really big, long, wide ones. They're handy. I put them above the mattress but below the fitted sheet to protect the mattress without having to keep changing sheets, even though I still use the two 34" x 36" above the fitted sheet for him to lay on directly. Honestly, it's probably one of the best investments I made in his every day life (and mine, too). They're virtually indestructible and I go through a lot less sheet sets.

PLUS: The walker is sturdy, and does a good job. The knee height adjustment is very easy to use. The fold-up feature is very useful for travel. The wide wheelbase provides stability, but does create a very wide turning radius. The brake hollds well, and is easy to apply. The kneeling pad is very comfortable. A definite plus is the removeable basket. I have relied heavily on the basket to carry things from room ro room. On the whole, I am pleased with this item.
MINUS: The instructions for adjusting the height were obviously from another model, and did not apply to this knee walker. The other model apparently had more small height adjustments. This would have helped,as one setting on this model was about an inch too low, and the next higher setting was about two inches too high.(In other words, there needs to be more settings for the knee height to allow for smaller changes.) (More notches on the height bar?)

I bought this chair a few months ago. It is not only a wonderfully useful power chair, but also a lot of fun to tool around the my neighborhood of Cambridge, MA. I recharge it--so easy to do--when I return home so that it is always ready for me to hop on and take a long ride--10 miles, @ 5 mph. I prefer the handlebars to riding without anything in front of me. Very easy to control, though it is a little tiring on my thumbs to continue accelerate.
