For the last year I've been experiencing heal pain after long hikes (greater than 5 miles). I've tried softer socks and a different brand of gel insoles. Better but still some pain the next day. I selected these at a walk up display at a local big box because they were on sale.

The night before a long hike I got out my hiking boots and adjusted the insoles and put these on top. Just a little scissor work to shorten for my boots. The next morning I left for what would be an 11-mile hike with 2700-feet of elevation gain and decent. On past hikes a 10-min rest would have my heals so sore I could barely walk, didn't happen. The next morning I had no significant pain when walking.

It is my belief that the waffle pattern is as much responsible as is the gel material. What ever the reason, I'll soon be buying another pair for my other hiking boots.
